OUR AREAS OF FOCUS

Advocate for High-Quality Programs

Texans Ready to Work engages in legislative advocacy with state and local governmental entities. It drafts model legislation aimed at expanding Texas student access to CTE programs, it advocates on behalf of state or local measures that expand access to CTE, and it works alongside fellow advocates for CTE to make sure that elected officials have all the information they need to make good decisions for Texas students.

Support Students, Program Providers, and Employers

Texans Ready to Work partners with students, parents, school districts, community colleges, technical colleges, and businesses to advertise available programs to students, to support CTE program providers, and to connect students with potential employers.

Communicate Success

Texans Ready to Work communicates with industry, elected officials, educational institutions, parents, and students. Our message is straight-forward: high-quality CTE programs lead to high-paying jobs. We trumpet the success of existing students and programs. And we make sure our fellow advocates are well-informed on the exciting developments in the CTE space.

How do we define high-quality?

Simple. High-quality programs lead to high-paying jobs. For far too long, Texas schools have phased-out vocational programs that prepare students for the skilled trades or for industry specific positions. It’s time to prepare students to enter the workforce in high-paying jobs the day after they graduate.
